Physical Measurements

Physical measurements form the foundation of our interaction with and understanding of the physical universe. By quantifying fundamental properties, we translate the abstract laws of physics into actionable, observable data. This enables consistent manufacturing, rigorous scientific research, and reliable global trade.

The International System of Units (SI) defines seven base quantities from which all other physical measurements are derived: time, length, mass, electric current, thermodynamic temperature, amount of substance, and luminous intensity. In modern metrology, these base units are defined not by physical artifacts, but by fixed numerical values of fundamental constants of nature, ensuring absolute stability and universality.
